Since our inception in 2001, Aros have become known for adding value through inventive, adaptive approaches and in transforming existing buildings: returning them back to the market for a new future. Focusing on buildings within investment portfolios which are often under-performing, we have successfully transformed them into finished results which have also caught the eye of Awards' judges.
Joining the AJ’s RetroFirst campaign, this reinforces our attention to the reworking of existing stock;
“Retrofit of existing buildings…. is cost-effective and generally less controversial, because it conserves and enhances existing places and neighbourhoods. As for carbon emissions, retrofit makes sense because of the substantial embodied energy savings made in repurposing existing buildings, compared with the ultra-high embodied energy costs of demolition and rebuild”
